I put a poll on the right side of my blog again for all the mommas out there. I want to know when you went into labor and gave birth to your child/children. I could only put four answers, so if you went into labor prior to 37 weeks, leave me a comment. I made it to where you can answer twice as well, in case you have multiple children. I’m so curious about this because I feel like most people I know went into labor and had their babies close to 40 weeks or even past that and I’m kind of hoping others may have gone into labor sooner than that….for my sanity!!!
Less is best...for me.

Marcie - you are in the same group of doctors I had. My Dr. is Heaton and after week 38, you are technically considered full-term and they can induce you without a medical reason if you wanted to go that route. They were going to induce me early anyway because of gestational diabetes, but I actually scheduled my date so I could do it before my mother's cancer surgery. We did it when I was exactly 38 weeks. I had a wonderful experience. Dr. Woods broke my water and Dr. Lassiter actually delivered Mary Emma - you will love St. Vincent's and have the best care!
I have gotten the complete opposite answer from them. 37 weeks is actually full term, but Hudson said it's against St. Vincent's policy to induce prior to 39 weeks without a medical reason (the lady that taught the childbirth class said that too). Hudson said he wouldn't induce me even at 39 unless I was progressing...which at the moment I'm not :( He said he won't induce me to have a C-Section. If I've learned anything through this experience, it's that different doctors say different things, EVEN if they're in the same group. It's kind of frustrating!!!
It may differ because you are having a boy. They call it the "Whimpy white male" syndrome. Their lungs develop later than girls. If you have a boy early you run a greater risk of having a little NICU time until his lungs mature completely. Either way- I think they are wise not to induce you until you show some progress. You don't want a c-section unless you have to have one. I have known so many people that pushed for an early induction that ended up not progressing in labor and having to have a section. That is the worst kind of section there is- major surgery on top of laboring all day. Just hang in there. You don't want that experience! My guess is the 22nd. Can't wait to hold him!!
Hey marcie! I found your blog through the laurn o's and love reading the pregnancy updates! Wish i had documentd as much with all my babies! Everyone i knew had their babies induced at 39-40 weeks too so i figured that would be me, but my water broke at 37 weeks with Eli and he was born that day. shepard came at 36 weeks! They both did have trouble breastfeeding though, typical of early babies. Hang in there, he will be here soon! Cant wait to see pics : )
Hey Marcie! How are you!? I can't believe you are already 37 weeks! the time has flown! I voted on your poll but it only let me vote once. I was induced with Taylor at 39 weeks. I was 2cm dilated and 90% effaced, with slightly elevated blood pressure. I wished I had waited and not let them induce me. Taylor would not breast feed at all. I went into labor on my own with Mac at 39 weeks and he was born 14 hours later. He breastfed perfectly and was ridiculously healthy for a baby boy. I went natural with both my babies even with the induction (which I do not recommend). I do discourage induction prior to 40 weeks unless medically necessary. Babies know when they are ready and sometimes Mama's are just ready sooner. Hang in there! You will never get this time back, and no matter how uncomfortable you are, you will be glad you let him hang out as long as possible.
