#22 and #99 - Dual Civic Duties!!

Yesterday and today I marked number 22 and number 99 of my 101 things to do in 1,001 days list.  Number 22 was to give blood.  We had a blood mobile (one of those big buses) come sit in our parking lot at work the 2nd half of the day while a bunch of us donated our blood.  I went in at 3:15pm to do it.  This item was on my last 101 list and I was never able to mark it off.  In 2010, I couldn’t give blood  because my iron levels were too low.  In 2011 I was pregnant and it’s “frowned upon” to give blood while pregnant.   Also I had a significant iron deficiency when I was pregnant with Carter so I couldn’t have donated anyway.  Finally, I got my day to donate!

As a parent, I should probably know my blood type and my son’s blood type.  I know that Carter has the same blood type as me, but I have no idea what that is.  Yesterday, I found out the letter (I’m “O'’) but I don’t know whether it’s positive or negative.  I’ll just have to ask Carter’s pediatrician at his next appointment to find out.  Sorry, no pictures to mark that one off.

And then today, I got to vote :)  Number 99 on my list was to vote for President.

And my mother-in-law sent me this picture:

Gotta get them started young :)

I obviously have my favorite candidate for the election, but my pastor made a good point at church on Sunday.  We as Christians should not be putting our faith in one man.  Our faith is in God and God alone.  It doesn’t matter who is President.  God is God and he can do all things and use other people to carry out his plans.  Let’s remember that when the results come in today!

I have always wanted to give blood but my iron level is too low. If you are a negative blood type you would probably know. I am o neg and have to have rhogam shots when pregnant.

Very wise advice from your pastor & we would all do well to remember this today. It really hit home for me, thanks for sharing. =)

Love the pic of carter w his vote sticker! Also, my middle son has a rare form of anemia that causes him to not produce any red blood cells so he recieves blood transfusions regularly. Without blood donations he would nit be here so THANK YOU for donating blood and helping all those poeple out there like my shepard, its LIFE SAVING!!!
