Puerto Rico

In June, Justin and I had our first vacation since Garrett came into the family.  Justin had some free companion tickets for airline flights and they had to be used by a certain time so we decided to go to Puerto Rico!

Gorgeous right?!?!  We flew into San Juan and stayed there for a night.  We were glad that we only stayed in San Juan for one night and then drove to our main location, Fajardo.  San Juan wasn’t a resort town and even though the water was pretty, it just felt dirty…the town, I mean.  It was just really run down.  When we got to Fajardo we noticed a huge difference.  The water was UNREAL and the resort we stayed at was phenomenal.  All the pictures in this post are from Fajardo.

This was the view from our room balcony!

The hotel rented its own island and had a ferry that went to the island several times a day.  This picture was taken from that island.  The water was just as gorgeous there and they had so many activities you could book-snorkeling, kayaking, jet skis, parasailing, etc.

There were LOTS of iguanas on the island.

The hotel also owned its own water park and at the park was an infinite pool!

One of the days we were there we went to a local national park to go hiking and trail running.

After several small hikes, we headed back to the main part of the island to head to our mini-boat/snorkel tour.  In this tour, we got our own little mini-boats to drive from snorkel spot to snorkel spot.  I was fearing my life with Justin driving….

Seriously how gorgeous is this water?!?!?

The picture above was from our second snorkel spot.  The island in the photo was in the movie The Pirates of the Caribbean 4.  It’s where Jack Sparrow drops off Penelope Cruz’s character and leaves her.  UNBELIEVABLE water!!!

It was so much fun!  It was a quick trip, only 4 days.  But totally worth it!!  Of course I missed my babies the entire time we were gone.  Nana and Papa had the boys the first 2 days and then my mom had them the 2nd half of the trip.  Both were in good hands and had fun.  We even came back to Garrett having gotten his very first tooth!

Justin and I love traveling and it has obviously taken a backseat since we had kids, but once these kids get older, we will certainly be going on trips more often and taking them with us.  Don’t think for a second that we aren’t planning on a family trip to climb Mount Kilimanjaro again!!!
