I'm hoping to come out of this non-blogging slump soon. This past week at work was a little easier for me because they lowered the hours to 50. We usually do that on the week of the corporate deadline of March 15th. Sometimes the hours go back up afterwards, sometimes they don't. Unfortunately, they did this year and I am now back to 60 hour weeks. I'm hoping and praying that this will be the last 60 hour week. This busy season has done a number on me for sure. I'm much more exhausted than I have been the past busy seasons I've had with my current firm. Still, it's better than what I worked when I lived in Nashville, so a girl can't really complain. I don't know if it's because I'm just getting older and it's harder for me to work so much. But then I also think that it could be because I never got a break between getting back from Africa and falling into the 60 hour weeks.
Anyway, I took advantage of my weekend of no work and took my little man for the weeknd! I went to Tuscaloosa on Saturday morning to get my hair done and Lindsey and Jeff met me at the salon and brought Anderson. From there, Anderson and I went straight to Birmingham and had lunch at chick-fil-a and then we headed straight to Oak Mountain and hit up the petting zoo. Anderson is all about being outside. Even when we went home for a brief period of time between leaving Oak Mountain and going to a movie, he just wanted to sit outside the whole time. He also loves animals, but he is hesitant to pet them. I think he's still a little scared that they'll hurt him or something.
How gorgeous what the weather this weekend?!?! This is the petting zoo at Oak Mountain.
Petting a goat. He was definitely scared of the goats because they assumed everyone had food and came right up to you and started sniffing you to find it.
There was a bunch of baby goats around, which I've never seen here before. They were so cute!
Another baby goat
Anderson saw other kids feeding the animals and wanted to buy food to feed them, so I bought some and as soon as the animals saw that he had food, they swarmed him! I think he got a little scared because he said "Auntie M I don't want to do this anymore". So I fed the animals what food we had left and then we headed out to the Treetop Trail where the owls were. Anderson had been there before with me and his Gigi, but he really liked it and wanted to go there again. He also wanted to see the fish in the lake, and last time he came to Oak Mountain with my mom and I, we were able to see some fish from a bridge that was over the beach, so we headed to that bridge. Unfortunately, there were so many people boating and kayaking that they scared all the fish, so we never saw any.
This is Anderson at the beach looking for fish down below.
Enjoying Auntie M and Little Man day :)
Justin was running a 50k at Oak Mountain that day and he was about to finish around the time we were at the beach, so I drove by the end of the trail that he was running on to see if we could find him and we did! We ran into him about a mile from the finish line so I snapped a couple of quick pictures before droving to the finish line to take a video.
A 50k is a 33 mile race and he did it in 6 hours and 46 minutes!! 89 people finished in under 9 hours and Justin ranked in 20th of those 89, which is AWESOME! So proud of him!
After Justin finished the race, Anderson and I went to the gas station because he wanted some gum. He had a lot of choices, but went with the Bubble Tap gum. It reminded me of myself when I was a kid. It didn't matter what the gum tasted like, I just wanted "fun" gum. So I always went with Bubble Tape, Big League Chew, or Zebra Stripes. After getting some gum, we headed back to the house and waited on Justin to get out of the shower so that we could go to the movie. We went to see Mars Needs Mom in 3D IMAX. It was a cute movie and Anderson loved the IMAX, even though his hands were over his ears for the first 10 minutes of the movie. Seriously though, movies are way too loud these days. I know surround sound is cool and all, but being deaf at age 40 isn't. I wish they wouldn't make them so loud....especially kid movies!!
Anderson came home and played video games for a little bit but then we gave him a bath and he went to bed. His momma came to Birmingham to shop the next day so I met her and returned her little one. I love having Anderson with me and I can't wait to have Lydia stay with me!! Though Lindsey knows that Auntie M never takes kids overnight until they no longer wear diapers ;)
Less is best...for me.

Aw, what a fun day. Lindsey sure does have a cute little family. I love getting a glimpse of Anderson and Lydia on your blog every now and then. They are so precious.
Welcome back to blog land! And yes, you pretty much win the award for Best Aunt Ever. And Justin wins the award for craziest human ever. 33 miles? Kill me now.
